The plowman at his plow, the carter in the street, and the craftsman in his shop.

Historically I found it very interesting to read of Drake’s expedition and to learn that the crew knew the words of the psalms and that was the thought they had as to stopping the natives of the land from sacrificing to them. The psalms of those days must have been very widespread indeed if even the sailor had them and knew them. It brings to mind what Marot had as his goal that “’the plowman at his plow, the carter in the street, and the craftsman in his shop’ would sing Psalms for their own comfort (pg. 60). Not exactly the path we see being taken in our culture today.
