“It is not without reason that the Holy Spirit exhorts us so carefully through the Holy Scriptures to rejoice in God, and that all our joy may there be reduced to its end. For he knows how we are inclined to rejoice ourselves in vanity.” (Jean Cauvin, p. 66)
There are so many delightful things that distract our attention from the one true Delight. We set up these inferior delights in scorn of the one who gave them and gives us the capacity to enjoy them, rather than press them into the service of His glory. “Rejoice in the truth.” (1 Cor. 13:6)
