The Spirit

“But in most contemporary worship services you will not find an emphasis on speaking in tongues, singing in the Spirit, healings, or prophetic words…. They may even believe that these outward gifts of the Spirit were given for the early church but are no longer accessible to the church today, a premise our charismatic friends would certainly differ with!” (161) Horness wants the readers to understand how he views the activity of the Holy Spirit during times of worship, which is different from the charismatic worship. He said in page 162, “we are not to mishandle the Spirit, either by overemphasis on signs and wonders or by simple neglect”. The truth that the Spirit is God, He is sent to show us who Christ is in His glory so that we come to love and trust Him, should not escape our minds.
