“As the Spirit leads”

“The Spirit sensitizes worship with both freedom and order. Leaders of charismatic worship plan in advance. They also respond to the leading of the Spirit in the moment.” (p. 145)

This seems to be a criticism of contemporary as well as charismatic worship (as if yielding to the Holy Spirit would somehow ruin up our worship). In fact, in my own church we’ve planned the order of a song (down to how many times to do the chorus at the end) and in the end of all our planning just say “as the Spirit leads” with a wink.

Can being sensitive to the Holy Spirit actually disrupt our “order” in a service? Would that be a good thing?
