Lord, You allow no taint of sin
To mar the Glory of Your name--
We plead Your gentle mercy here
For fear that Israel's guilt we claim.
Our broken cisterns cannot hold
The living water You have giv'n.
Our evil of forsaking You
Has led us further into sin.
Once we had fled Your loving fold
And left the safety of Your side,
We clung to idols without hope
And trusted them with fragile lives.
O Heavens, shudder for our sake
The Tender Shepherd we forsook.
Grace upon grace He freely gives,
And on the cross our sin He took.
