Faulty Focus

Granted that Sally Morgenthaler is part of the Emerging church, her interpretation of the Scripture confuses me. She is basically unwilling to believe the clear statement of Scripture but willing to throw Bible verses and narratives. It gets even more mysterious when Sally explained what the “emerging realignment” looks like on page 224. Sally misses that the mystery is not hidden anymore. It has been revealed! The Holy Spirit who understands the things of God has made them known to us. “Deconstructing” everything that we have always believed is extremely frightening for me because that means to ignore my theology, ignore the doctrines that are so precious and sacred for me. Also, when Sally talked about diversity on page 228, she was too focused on the audience-centered style of communication that she treated the church as a place for everyone when the church is for believers. Unbelievers should not feel comfortable. Do we really want to focus on entertainment in worship that ignores the Person and the work of Jesus Christ?
